APAD. Day 12. Tattoos

I have wanted a tattoo for the longest time. Ever since I remember. But something has kept me back all this time. What is it about tattoos, that is inviting as well as intimidating at the same time?

1. Tattoos can be a beautiful way to express yourself.

Without having to say anything, a person can tell a lot about your personality from your tattoo. Truly. If you know any person who has a tattoo, do take some time to relate the tattoo to their personality. You will find the reasons why they got that particular tattoo.

2. Done well, they can enhance a person’s attractiveness.

There are ghastly tattoos all around. But there are some people who get the right size and kind of tattoo, just a hint of color maybe. It just adds to the person’s charm.

3. Tattoos can go horribly wrong!

Yes, they can. And there is nothing you can do about it. Just Google, “Tattoos Gone Wrong” and you will know what I mean.

4. Tattoos are permanent.

That’s good. And bad even. You want to put a lot of thought behind that elusive tattoo, or you may end up regretting it later. For example, I have two daughters. They are going to grow up one day and ask me the meaning of my tattoo. I don’t want it to be something they are not proud of. I also want them to know that I didn’t just get a tattoo done on a whim. That a lot of thought went behind it. That way when they want their tattoos, they feel free to discuss it with me.

5. Needles!

Yup, tattoos hurt. And if I am going to go through all that pain, I want it to be a one-time affair.

Having said all that, I still want a tattoo. A good one. That means something. Something that speaks of my love for my family, my life and my work.

Got any ideas? Please suggest some, eager to hear your thoughts 🙂
