J – DIY Jewelry with Paper beads – A2Z April Blogging Challenge

I love jewelry. But art jewelry is often way too expensive. That’s when I learned about paper beading.

Paper rolling is something I used in a previous post to make a picture frame.

Paper beads are a tinier version of the same. Tiny, vibrant and beautiful.

Take a look at my  paper bead jewelry.

The first thing you will be needing are paper beads. Here’s a quick video tutorial to show you how to turn glossy magazine paper into colorful beads.

Fun isn’t it? Think of all the possibilities you can make with these colorful beads.

For jewelry making.

Things I used:

  • Paper beads
  • Stones and beads from an old bracelet
  • Thin crochet thread
  • Needle
  • Loops from old earrings

First I threaded a thin crochet thread through a needle. Using double ply is best for strength.

Now I began threading the beads in the order I wanted. Since I wasn’t going to add any kind of fasteners at both ends, I simply made a long necklace that could be worn just like that. When the desired length was reached, I simply tied both ends together.

For the earrings, I threaded the beads in a thread and tied the upper end to the loops of old earrings. That’s it!

My paper bead jewelry is ready!

  3. What a lovely tutorial! Very nice! And so helpful for those who are learning how to make paper beads. I have an Etsy shop that offers precut paper strips for making paper beads, paper bead rollers, and paper bead kits. One of my customers purchased the kits for their church so the kids could make paper beads. I thought that was such a wonderful idea! But if any of your readers would like to make the process easier, I invite them to visit my shop http://www.etsy.com/shop/GroundZeroCreations
