W – Warli Painting (A2Z Blogging Challenge)

This is not just a DIY for the blog. It is something I have been wanting to do for a long time.

My daughter loves doodling, and needs no pen and paper to do it. She doodles just about anywhere, and my walls obviously fell prey to her artistic instincts. However, now that she has grown up, and the doodling has been largely restricted to her books, thanks to her own understanding of keeping your home in good condition, I thought now was a good time to start painting the walls.

Only, I wanted to paint these myself.

I started with this small nook, where I painted a rust color. I used three coats of paint to give it the required look, and mute the doodles underneath.

I didn’t have it in me to scratch those doodles with a sandpaper. This was more like painting over a painting.

Then I used white acrylic color to paint the warli painting on one strip of the wall.

It wasn’t easy, I admit. Took me one whole week of staying up at night to complete this project. But I am glad I did 🙂

This is another wall in my house, but posting this pic to give you an idea about what my painted wall looked like before I re-did it.

And now this is my painted wall

It is one of the most satisfying projects I have ever undertaken 🙂

Happy DIYing folks!!!!
