This project had been lying around in the cans for quite a while. By now, all of you must know that I am the biggest procrastinator ever. I hadn’t cut out the pocket bits, but I had ripped an old jeans apart in the hopes of turning it into a useful organizer.
Happy to say that the project is now complete thanks to A-to-Z Blogging Challenge.
I didn’t know sewing until six months ago. Both, my mother-in-law and youtube have been instrumental in teaching me whatever little I do know about sewing.
Then I got hooked. (Pun intended)
I didn’t know sewing would be so satisfying to me until I actually got the hang of it. Now even though I still have a lot to learn, I have already made a couple of quilts, pillow covers, clothes for my kids, barbie clothes, and a toothbrush organizer.
This denim thing was lying around because I was afraid I was going to mess it all up. Finally for this challenge, I worked up the nerve.
Here you go:
- First I opened the stitches of one side of the leg of the jeans. I then cut out a rectangular piece of cloth. I hemmed it all the way round.
- Next I cut up the pockets of the jeans to use them as they were. All I had to do was to sew them in place.
- I had two pockets, which left me with two blank spaces. I cut up two more pieces of rectangles, and made two different styles of pockets on the organizer.
- The lower left pocket is my favorite one. Alas I can’t explain how I did it. I guess I’ll someday have to do a video tutorial to explain it.
The last step is to attach the whole thing to a square piece of plywood.
And there, the organizer’s ready!
If sewing this sounds too daunting for you, sweat not ladies and gentlemen. I do have another denim-based tutorial coming up, which is cuter.
Watch out for this space.
Please note, there are some other blogs that I love and I’d like to share, but unable to link to them on my phone. Will post the same at night 🙂
